Stuart Gavzy, Of Counsel at Compassionate Counsel, brings over 30 years of specialized experience in bankruptcy law. Since 1991, Stuart has dedicated his practice to helping individuals and small businesses find relief through Chapters 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy. Known for his patient and compassionate approach, Stuart understands the challenges his clients face and is committed to guiding them through each step with empathy and expertise.
Bankruptcy Experience
Stuart’s extensive background in bankruptcy includes representing debtors and acting as a Chapter 7 and 11 Trustee, as well as a liquidating trustee in complex Chapter 11 cases. Since 1998, he has focused exclusively on bankruptcy and insolvency, assisting clients with a range of financial difficulties and working as an Assignee for the Benefit of Creditors in numerous cases. Before joining private practice, Stuart served as Assistant U.S. Trustee for New Jersey, where he oversaw bankruptcy filings and managed case administration—a role that gave him a comprehensive understanding of bankruptcy processes from all sides.
Professional and Community Involvement
Stuart is a member of the Arizona Consumer Bankruptcy Counsel. Previously, Stuart served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character and actively contributes to the New Jersey bankruptcy community, including the Local Rules Revision and Lawyers Advisory Committees. He has also led seminars on bankruptcy law and has taught legal studies courses as an adjunct faculty member at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Montclair State College.
Education and Publications
Stuart holds a J.D. from Rutgers Law School and an M.B.A. from New York University. A published author on topics in bankruptcy law and legal technology, he has contributed to the *New Jersey Bankruptcy Manual*, among other publications. His articles and lectures reflect his dedication to making legal services more efficient and accessible for clients and colleagues alike.

"Very Satisfied"
I had 2 credit card debts that had been weighing on my mind for nearly 10 years.
I received a Summons for the first Debt several months ago. I did not have an attorney at that time, so I knew I needed to find one soon. I asked friends and family how to do this. I finally found Brant's Office through the internet. I set up an appointment, when I was told who I would be meeting with I checked his qualifications with Avvo and the State.
We met in his office. We contacted the first attorney and arrived at a settlement, by phone during that meeting.
The second summons arrived a couple of weeks ago. I mailed Brant a copy. We talked this week. He negotiated a settlement with the other party.
I am very satisfied with Brant's handling of these situations.

"Truly Cares"Brant Hodyno truly cares! You would be wise to have this man on your side. I could say so much, but how about some facts: 1. The first time I ever spoke to Brant on the phone; the length of the the call and the number of questions I had, were what other attorney's would consider a consultation and probably either charge you for or simply have you make an appointment for. Brant allowed me to exhaust all my questions and answered in kind. 2. Brant allowed me to make payments to him and in the meantime he kept the creditors / collectors at bay even though I had not signed a contract yet. 3. After many months (he never once pushed or badgered for me to file) I decided to not file after all and desperately needed money for a family emergency, Brant returned a large sum of money to me and said he wants to help in any way he can!
